R.E.D & HBP Nominated for National Movie Awards

"Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince" and the Harry, Ron and Hermione actors are among those nominated in the National Movie Awards 2010.
The sixth film in the Harry Potter series has received a nod in the Family category and will face "A Christmas Carol," "Alvin and the Chipmunks II," Emma Thompson's recent project "Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang" and Disney Pixar's "Up" to compete for the public vote.

Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) and Emma Watson (Hermione Granger) have also all been nominated for the Performance of the Year Award. Emma Thompson (Professor Sibyll Trelawney) is up for the same award for her role as Nanny McPhee in "Nanny McPhee and the Big Bang." There are a total of 19 nominees for this award, including principal actors in "New Moon," "Avatar" and "Sherlock Holmes."

Here's the Potter cast at the first National Movie Award in 2007 and Order of Phoenix won the Best Family Film Award. Also, Daniel won the Best Actor award while Emma won the best Actress Award.

Tom Felton: "Non-Stop Carnage" for Last Hour of DH

Actor Tom Felton recently gave a new interview during which he spoke briefly about the final battle sequence and end of the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" film. The video, which can be seen here, Mr. Felton comments on to what to expect in the final film, by saying:

"Unquestionably more exciting and more substantial as well... the final half an hour, or the final hour, really, of the last film is going to be non-stop carnage and I can't wait to see it."

I can’t wait! It sounds like they are doing the 7th book justice, since the last 100-150 pages were all non stop battle. It will be a different side of Harry Potter, since there usually isn’t actual “Battle” in the movies. This interview has definetly succeded in getting me excited!

Rupert Grint Talks DH with the Independent

A lengthy interview with actor Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley) has been published by the Independent.

It's just before 6pm and Rupert Grint has finished for the day. He's been filming the Deathly Hallows. "We haven't got long left," he says. "Just the final parts of the second part of the film." Not that exhaustion has set in yet. Rather, a feeling of uncertainty has enveloped him. "It'll be strange saying goodbye," he says.

For the 21-year-old, a life-changing experience that began half his life ago is due to end this June when filming finishes. "It's a weird feeling actually," he admits. "I never really thought it would end. I never really saw this day coming."

In truth, I'm expecting to find a rather nervous figure before me. It can't be easy facing the prospect of unemployment for the first time. While most actors are hardened to it, Grint, and his co-stars Daniel Radcliffe and Emma Watson have probably been institutionalised by their time at Leavesden Film Studios, the former Rolls-Royce factory on the outskirts of Watford that has been the home to Harry Potter since shooting began in 2000. "I don't know if I'm good enough to have a long career," he told one interviewer last year. "I've got a bit of an inferiority complex about my acting. My self-esteem is quite low in that sense."

Yet judging by his reaction today – and proving that Radcliffe was correct when he described Grint as "the most totally laid-back person you'll ever meet" – he's changed his tune. Quietly self-assured, while still as modest as the ripped jeans, T-shirt and dirty red- and-white-striped Converse boots he wears suggests, he simply shrugs when asked if he's worried about his post-Potter future. "I've loved every minute of Harry Potter," he says. "Yes, it'll be quite sad to see it go. But I'm also looking forward to being a bit more free and seeing what else comes along."

Admittedly, with estimates putting his wealth in the region of £9 million, such a safety net must help soften the blow. But there's more than money to consider in what must be akin to the feeling of leaving home for good. "It's been such a tight crew since the first film," he says. "Not many people have changed. It's a real family atmosphere. And the place as well... Watford in general really. I've spent more time there than anywhere. I don't know. It'll be weird not going there every day." He considers this for a second, then laughs. "I'll probably get over it."

Grint admits he's uncertain whether he could echo what Radcliffe did on stage for Equus and go full frontal. "I don't think I could. Just being on stage would be quite a scary thing, let alone with no clothes on. It takes a lot of courage." Yet he feels Potter obsessives will accept him in this more mature role. "I suppose, as I'm getting older, the fans are getting older with me." Has he ever fought with a mate over a girl, like Malachy, I wonder? "I never really did. I haven't had the chance!" Comments like this make you realise how curious it must be to experience your formative years growing up on a film set.

Preferring a round of golf to a night out on the tiles, he doesn't come across as a movie brat on a path to self-destruction. Frankly, he doesn't have the constitution for it. "I suffer really badly from hangovers," he says. "I need two days to recover."

Yet it's clear he's not going to spend much time pining for Potter. Already making further provisions for removing the spell its cast over his life, due later in the year is Wild Target, a remake of the 1993 French film Cible Emouvante about an ageing assassin (Bill Nighy) suffering a midlife crisis. He plays Nighy's apprentice. "The character is closer to me than the one I play in Cherrybomb," he says. "I can probably relate more. He's quite laid back." So it's true then? "I suppose, yeah. I am quite relaxed. Not much fazes me. I don't get angry a lot."

A comic tale of a plucky underdog, it rather sums up Grint's career to date. Maybe he'll never stray too far from this comfort zone. But with Ron on the run with Harry and Hermione in the final Harry Potter instalment, at least we'll get to see Grint in a more action-oriented role in Deathly Hallows. "I have hair extensions for the latter part of the film," he explains. "Ron gets a bushier hairstyle because they're living rough and camping out. Me and Dan have got stubble as well!" Ron Weasley with facial hair? Perhaps it shows Rupert Grint is ready to leave Harry Potter after all.

She's amazing!! ~ Rhys commented on his 'daughter'

We Are Pop Star has released an interview with actor Rhys Ifans in which he discusses working with on-screen daughter Evanna Lynch (Luna Lovegood). The actor, porting Xenophilius Lovegood in the "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" film, speaks to the wealth of knowledge Miss Lynch holds about the Harry Potter series, by saying:

"She's amazing," he said. "If there's a question on set -- and they have a plethora of researchers and people who've read the books -- but if anyone needs to know ANY miniscule detail about anything that has happened in any Harry Potter novel from start to finish, they ask her. She knows it all. So it was quite intimidating. I was working with this expert in Harry Potter. But she was a joy to work with. All of them, all of the kids or whatever you call them, it was just a great couple of weeks."

It’s people like Evanna that are hardcore fans of the books who make the movies great. :D I’m excited to see Mr.Ifans! Evanna is perfect for the part of Luna. Everything from her dreamy, far-off voice to her homemade radish earrings… perfect! He is right, she is amazing! Evanna is just too awesome.

Harry Potter author J. K. Rowling just wrapped her two readings at the Annual White House Easter Egg Roll. After reading from the fifth Chapter of Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone
book, the section where Harry finds his wand at Ollivander's, the author answered a few questions from the audience.

Firstly, in response to a question regarding whether she plans to continue writing, J. K. Rowling responded, "I do and I am... Sometime in the not too distant future I will bring you another book and it will not be Harry Potter." She went on to relate that she is "enjoying taking a break from publishing," and, regarding in earlier question, reiterated prior comments saying she has never ruled out revisiting the Harry Potter series, but she "always planned seven." She also noted that while she is indeed writing again, she is not ready to talk about it just yet.

JKR also commented on the original opening to the first book, which was set to take place with an explosion at Harry's house in Godric's Hollow. Shortly after her original plan included Hermione's father, a next door neighbor of the Potters, running outside to see the baby Harry being taken from the rubble. This would lead to Hermione remembering this event upon meeting Harry many years later.

Responses to additional questions include:

• Her favorite characters from the series, apart from Harry, Ron, Hermione, are Hagrid, Dumbledore, Lupin, and Snape.
• Would not want either Dobby or Winky as House Elves, because the creates are "creepy," and would rather give them clothes and set them free.
• Says she has tweeted twice in her life, and plans to make tweets about "every six months saying 'I'm still writing.'"
• Her favorite Harry Potter book is Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows.
• Spoke about coming up with the idea for Harry Potter, noting that she was looking at cows out a train window and thought, "Boy who doesn't know he's a wizard goes to a wizarding school."
• The next character which she thought of, after Harry, was Hermione.
• Her favorite subject to write about in the Harry Potter books was charms. Referenced This is Spinal Tap's revolving drummer as one reason behind having a new DADA teach each year.
• Made comments on the false rumors behind her inspiration for the name Harry Potter. Was not based on a childhood friend, and used this question as a "life lesson" to the young audience members, saying "You can never believe everything you read in the papers."

Rupert confirmed: filming is set to wrap in June,

Actor Rupert Grint has been making the rounds in recent days, promoting his forthcoming film, "Cherrybomb."

During a number of interviews, the Ron Weasley actor spoke regarding the long anticipated Silver Doe scene from "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows." Speaking to Total Film Magazine, he said briefly makes mention of scene, saying, "There's always hours of waiting about when you're filming and on the last film we did a lot of outdoor scenes at a pond last February which was freezing. I hate getting my face wet and we had to change out there, too. Those were hours of pain and darkness."

Mr. Grint continued, speaking in regards to finishing filming the series, by saying, "I think as the years have passed, Ron and I have blended into one person. It's weird because the final filming day is coming up and I'll have to say goodbye to him. I'm ready to move on--I'm looking forward to seeing what else is out there." The subject of filming for "Deathly Hallows" was breeched again in a video interview with ITN, where Rupert Grint confirmed that filming is set to wrap in June, and spoke more of his relationships with his fellow "Potter" costars.

Moving on to the subject of "Cherrybomb," Mr. Grint made comments about the adjustment period he faced when first working on this new and more mature project, as well as the "culture shock" he faced "doing a lower budget film." The full interview can be viewed right here:

Hagrid's Hut

Universal Orlando has released the first official photo of Hagrid's Hut from the Wizarding World of Harry Potter theme park, set to open on June 18.

An authentic replica from the Harry Potter films, guests will pass by Hagrid's hut on their way to the Flight of the Hippogriff family-friendly roller coaster. Just before they board, Hagrid instructs guests on how to properly approach and fly on a Hippogriff. Hagrid’s hut will be seen as part of a feature about The Wizarding World of Harry Potter on NBC's The Celebrity Apprentice this Sunday, April 4. The Wizarding World of Harry Potter grand opens on June 18.
