Tomorrow President Barack Obama will address the nation as it goes back to school; the pre-released text of his speech which you can see right here http://www.whitehouse.gov/MediaResources/PreparedSchoolRemarks/ includes remarks on the beginnings of Harry Potter as proof that not all great ideas or ventures are accepted as such to start:


But the truth is, being successful is hard. You won’t love every subject you study. You won’t click with every teacher. Not every homework assignment will seem completely relevant to your life right this minute. And you won’t necessarily succeed at everything the first time you try.

That’s OK. Some of the most successful people in the world are the ones who’ve had the most failures. JK Rowling’s first Harry Potter book was rejected twelve times before it was finally published. Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team, and he lost hundreds of games and missed thousands of shots during his career. But he once said, "I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

These people succeeded because they understand that you can’t let your failures define you – you have to let them teach you. You have to let them show you what to do differently next time. If you get in trouble, that doesn’t mean you’re a troublemaker, it means you need to try harder to behave. If you get a bad grade, that doesn’t mean you’re stupid, it just means you need to spend more time studying."

Author Ian Rankin has given a new interview on BBC radio with Simon Mayo (download here) where he mentions his friend and neighbor in Scotland, J.K. Rowling.

In the middle of this interview, Mr. Rankin notes that while he has not seen the Harry Potter author in some time, he said she "was working on her Harry Potter encyclopedia" and "drawing family trees for all the characters, going back generations."

This of course is not a surprise as Jo has said many times in the past that she is working again on various projects, as highlighted last year when she confirmed she was writing again in cafes, and has often expressed her desire to create the definitive encyclopedia of the beloved Harry Potter world.

*ECLIPSE* ~ Bella's NEW WIG

It's a shooting today Kristen Stewart’s “Bella” with her mom played by Sarah Clarke who arrived yesterday in Vancouver shooting a scene that’s supposed to be “Florida” at a beach house while “Edward” hides inside from sun.




This cannot be the best wig they could find. The hairline is odd. It’s like Jacob’s hairline from the first movie. Is this Jacob’s wig? Did they recycle? Come on now, they should have enough budget for a better one since this is now one of the most successful movie sequel in the industry.

OMFG!!I hate the wig so bad!=( and didn't love the make up either she is not suppose to look that white..ohh c'mon..
Eclipse is my favorite book and this wig issue is just killing my 'Eclipse Movie' buzz....Hope that ugly mess doesn't go flying off when they are filming the leg hitch scene!

I think the wig is actually really very good. In fact when you compare images side by side (http://arandomchic.hyperchat.com/bellahair.jpg), I don't think the average person would ever notice.
The only reason people here are so "upset" is that they know what she normally looks like. Once the movie actually comes out, I'm guessing most people will totally forget they ever bitched about the wig in the first place.

I, for one, will criticize all I want since I am contributing to Summit getting rich. Secondly, I really don't have anything else to do right now than to discuss the wig. What is interesting to me, if this was any other cast member that we're commenting on, nobody would moralize like they do when it comes to KStew. Suddenly there is a crowd defending KStew when it's sooo clear that wig IS NOT WORKING - I don't care on who's head that thing is. I swear people are in such denial that they would applaud and cheer if she smeared shit all over her head. However, she is a lead in this movie that will be present on the screen for most of the movie and something has to be said or done. A fact.
And I will criticize KStew (yes you heard me) when I say she didn't think things through when getting that mullet. It screams Rebel without a cause.

LOl, this is cracking me up. It does look a litle like Jacobs wig hairline, I have to agree with Lainey on that. But it isnt soooo bad. COuld be worse. I love these stills though!!!!

I am laughing my butt off! Of all things that are wrong in this world...Her Wig!? Granted the hairline looks off, but it is not that horrible. All we have seen are a few pics from the set and everyone is freaking out. I don't know about you, but when I go to watch Eclipse...her hair will be the LAST thing I am thinking about.
BTW, we don't own Kristin's hair, body or soul! If she wants to cut her hair for a role, go for it! She cares about the Twilight films, but she also has other interests...

The hair sucks, period. Of all the complicated and expensive special effects they produce on film, they can't do something as simple as make a wig look more natural? I want to get lost in the story as a whole, not in the bits and pieces that put it together. It's like watching a dance routine and listening to the dancers count the steps! Call it trivial if you like, but I don't want to be staring at her hairline the entire time she's talking.

Here's a quick update regarding box office success for Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. While faring well here in Malaysia, the sixth installment in the Harry Potter series continues to have very impressive box office sum totals due to international showings. ScreenDaily reports:


"Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince became the third biggest film in the series worldwide after adding $7.7m from 5,000 screens in 61 markets through Warner Bros Pictures International (WBPI) for $610.5m overseas and $904.9m globally. Greece was the final territory to receive the sixth episode in the family franchise and delivered an excellent $1.9m from 135 screens that was a clear number one and scored the biggest launch of the year.

Latest figures put Harry Potter And The Half-Blood Prince on $80.8m in the UK, $79.4m in Japan, $60.9m in Germany, $51.6m in France, $31.7m in Australia, $27m in Italy, $24.1m in China, $21.4m in Mexico, $19.6m in Spain, $18.6m in Brazil, and $18.4m in Russia."
