A caution to readers: THIS POST-- AND FOLLOWING POSTS-- WILL CONTAIN SPOILERS.

If you are ready, please continue below for full details!

  • The film opens on the Minister of Magic speaking to the press, promising the wizarding public safety and protection of their liberties.
  • This leads into the Dursley's leaving their home, and Harry being left in the empty Privet Drive house with Hedwig.
  • Hedwig does die, returning to the chase sequence to defend Harry from Voldemort.
  • Both Kreacher and Dobby do make an appearance in the film.
  • The Death Eater meeting is featured, an unshaven Lucius Malfoy shakes below Voldemort's gaze.

  • Ministry of Magic is turned into a propaganda factory, with posters, pamphlets, and other anti-Muggle propaganda.
  • Harry and Hermione dance to Nick Cave's "The Children."
  • Dobby makes a fun, funny, and heartwarming return. Humorous interaction with Kreacher.
  • The Trio are found by the Death Eaters when Xeno says "Voldemort," a tabooed word.
  • When Ron is destroying the Horcrux, Harry and Hermione appear as silver porcelain figures, taunting Ron. The engage in a very sensual kiss, which ignites Ron into destroying the Horcrux.
  • The memorial to the Potters does not appear when Harry and Hermione go to Godric's Hollow.
  • Nagini comes from the mouth of Bagshot. The fight crashes into the children's room of the house next door.
  • In the Silver Doe scene, Harry breaks his way though the ice to retrieve the sword. When he gets close, the locket around his neck chokes him and drags him under the ice.
  • When Harry opens the locket, a Voldemort Horcrux tornado appears from the locket, speaking to Ron, and unleashing spiders onto the ground before Ron.
  • Wormtail lives after Dobby stuns him to free Ron and Harry from the cellar of Malfoy Manor.
  • The film ends with Voldemort going to a small island where Dumbledore's tomb is set; he cracks open the white marble, stares into the blank face of Dumbledore, and takes his wand.

The ending is epic!!!

Durham University students offered Harry Potter course

Students are being given the chance to sign up to what is thought to be the UK's first course focusing on the world of Harry Potter.

The Durham University module uses the works of JK Rowling to examine prejudice, citizenship and bullying in modern society.

So far about 80 undergraduates have signed up for the optional module, part of a BA degree in Education Studies.

Harry Potter and the Age of Illusion will be available for study next year.

A university spokesman said: "This module places the Harry Potter novels in their wider social and cultural context.

Moral universe

"A number of themes will be explored, including the world of rituals, prejudice and intolerance in the classroom, bullying, friendship and solidarity and the ideals of and good citizenship."

The module was created by Dr Martin Richardson, head of the Department of Education at Durham University.

He said the idea for the new module had been conceived in response to growing demand from the student body.

He said: "It seeks to place the series in its wider social and cultural context and will explore some fundamental issues such as the moral universe of the school.

"You just need to read the academic writing which started to emerge four or five years ago to see that Harry Potter is worthy of serious study."

It shows the importance and influence of HP for us. It’s not only about fantasy but has so much more. For me these themes are the main themes why I love HP.

Dan Radcliffe Interviewed at Movie-Con III (Updated with Images)

Dan Radcliffe (Harry Potter) was interviewed at Movie-Con III, where he discussed, among other topics, finishing filming "Deathly Hallows":

Are you done?
“Yes, we finished. I promised myself it wouldn’t end on green screen but inevitably it did. The last shot was us jumping through the screen onto a mat.
Were you in bits?
“Not then but afterwards. I’ve never seen Rupert Grint cry before; it was weird. It was like seeing your Dad cry. But now we’re on to new things and I’m looking forward to the future. I’m very excited about The Woman In Black. I think James (Watkins) is great; he’s going to be the next Chris Nolan I think.”

In addition Radcliffe talks about his experience of watching the earlier Harry Potter movies:
Have you watched the films on DVD?
“I do, but I rarely watch them. I have two friends – just two! – and one wants me to play the Lego Harry potter game with him, and the other wants me to give him an uncensored commentary with them sometime."
So a Potter-thon?
“No! I do get really embarrassed watching the early one. I was talking to Emma on set once on set and saying how bad we were, and we were on mike, and suddenly I heard Mike Newell [director of "Goblet of Fire"] shout, “You got it because you were both BLOODY ADORABLE”.

Radcliffe also goes on to talk about what role he would want to play if Harry Potter were remade 30 or 50 years from now, the experience of filming "Deathly Hallows," and the helpful direction of David Yates, who has been the director of the Harry Potter movies since "Order of the Phoenix."

In addition, there was a clip shown at Movie-Con III, and a description of the clip is at the end of the interview:

Then we saw an action-packed bit of footage, with a few fresh snippets that weren’t in the trailer: six of Harry’s friends turning into Polyjuice Potion doppelgangers to get him safely out of the Dursley’s home; the attack on Fleur and Bill’s wedding reception; Harry and Ron fighting in the tent when they’re on the run and Voldemort heading up a council of Death Eaters at Malfoy Manor. And then lots and lots of intense action, including an extended look at the run through the woods with Death Eaters in close pursuit. OMG it totally looks awesome.

DH film split revealed

The latest issue of Entertainment Weekly features a cover story on the upcoming "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" film, which, at long last, reveals the split for the final installments of the film. A caution now to readers, for the rest of this post will contain SPOILERS!

Photos from the multipage feature show photographs of Hagrid and Harry on Sirius' motorbike, Xeno Lovegood in front of his house, Harry reaching for his wand, Ron and Harry sneaking into the Ministry, the Death Eaters before Voldemort, Harry sending off Hedwig, Harry and Hermione in the forest, and many more. We also get our first true looks at Xenophilius, Runcorn, Scrimgeour, Bagshot, and Gregorovitch.

The film, EW reports, "will end at about Chapter 24 of the book, with Voldemort gaining possession of the Elder Wand, one of the three Deathly Hallows that allow the bearer to conquer death." The article goes on to feature quotes from many of the cast members and director David Yates, who speak in turn about bringing the conclusion of the Potter series to the big screen. They also reveal details about the film; including the final scene the Trio ever filmed together. Quoteage:
The three of them [Radcliffe, Watson, and Grint] are shooting a scene in the Room of Requirement in which Harry, Ron, and Hermione are searching for a Horcrux- in this case, a tiara-like Ravenclaw diadem. Watson and Grint are sopping wet. (In the film, Ron and Hermione have recently destroyed another horcrux in the water and were perused by a Voldemort-shaped tsunami.)
As production on the two films wound down this summer, the three stars faced the prospect of having to film their final scene together. "It was bizarre," Watson said last week by phone. "Walking on to set that day, there was this incredibly thick atmosphere. It felt like a moment in history. It felt really big." In the scene, Harry, Ron, and Hermione have broken into the Ministry of Magic. They jinx a woman and drag her into a tiny storage area. So the final frame ever shot of all three actors takes place in a cramped little room. "These characters have been in the most fantaistical situations at Hogwarts- they've been in the Dark Forest, all these extraordinary places," says Yates. "It was an odd way to finish, really." But poetic, perhaps, considering that the whole series began with a boy who lived in a tiny room under the stairs of a house on Privet Drive. "In a way," says Yates, "the series started with a cupboard and ended with one."
The full article can be read right here. "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 1" will be in theaters on November 19, while "Deathly Hallows: Part 2" will arrive on the big screen July 2011. The Fall Movie Preview issue of EW is on newsstands now.

Studio Warner Brothers and author JK Rowling hosted a gigantic afternoon party in Leavesden, complete with fun fair.

Despite the rain showers throughout the day, the cast and crew didn't let the weather affect their fun and were spotted looking soggy as they left in their cars.

Revellers braved the downpours to ride the Chair-O-Planes, ghost train and dodgems, amongst other attractions.

Grint, who has played Ron Weasley since the films started nine years ago, showed he has been spending some of his multi-million pound fortune as he drove in a pristine white Audi sports car.

Grint and co-star Emma Watson were paid a reported £20million for Deathly Hallows Parts I and II, while Radcliffe was rumoured to have received around £35milion.

Also in attendance was actress Anna Friel, with her long-term partner David Thewlis, who plays Professor Remus Lupin, and Jarvis Cocker, who recorded tracks for the soundtrack to Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire.

Felton, who plays the Harry's class nemesis Draco Malfoy, appeared to have reverted to his natural hair colour after years of dying his hair platinum blonde for the role.

Nowhere to be seen was the franchise's leading lady Emma Watson, who recently shorn off her long locks into an elfin crop.

The final films sees Harry and co attempt to destroy the secret to Voldemort's immortality and defend Hogwarts from potential destruction.

Split into two separate films, Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part I will be released in November 2010, with Part II following in July 2011.
